Deep Sleep Hotel Mattress Topper — 10cm Deep, 1000 GSM

The hotel bed feeling, without the hotel bill. A 10cm quilted layer sits on top of the mattress you already own, turning a tired or too-firm bed into something you actually sink into. Internal box walls hold the fill evenly in place, so it stays plump and level night after night rather than shifting into lumps at your hips and shoulders.

Filled at 1000 GSM — roughly the weight of a thick winter duvet, and close to double the fill of the budget toppers that advertise the same 10cm depth. Depth on its own is easy to claim. Depth that survives six months is a question of how much is actually inside.

Elastic corner straps hold it to the mattress. Slipping is the most common complaint people have about toppers — waking to find the thing bunched at the foot of the bed — so it was the first problem we designed out.

Worth saying plainly, because it decides whether you'll like it. This topper is built for cosiness: a deep, dense fibre fill that holds warmth against you. If your bedroom runs cold, if you're the one who's always reaching for another layer, this is the right choice.

Before you order: adding 10cm to your mattress means your current fitted sheets may no longer reach the corners. If your sheets are already a snug fit, have a deep-pocket set ready.

The first fortnight

• Give it a few hours out of the packaging to loft up fully before you make the bed.
• It will settle a little under body weight over the first two weeks and then hold steady. The quilted channels exist to stop that settling turning into lumps and hollows.
• Fluff it by hand when you change the sheets and it holds its depth far longer.

Washing it

• Machine washable at [INSERT WASH TEMPERATURE]°C on a gentle cycle — no dry cleaning.
• Single and small double fit most home machines. Double and larger need a 9kg drum or a trip to the launderette; forcing a large topper into a small machine is what causes fill to clump.
• Tumble dry on low with a couple of dryer balls or clean tennis balls. This is the step that keeps the fill even as it dries.
• Make sure it is dry all the way through before it goes back on the bed.

When a topper isn't the answer

A soft topper on a soft mattress makes things worse, not better. If your bed already sags in the middle, or if you sink and wake with lower back pain, adding 10cm of plush fill will deepen the hollow rather than fill it — your hips drop further and your spine stays misaligned. What you need there is a firmer surface or a new mattress.

This topper is for a bed that is structurally sound but too firm, too flat, or simply past its best. On that, it does exactly what it says.

For hygiene reasons, bedding can't be returned once the seal is opened unless it's faulty — which is why we'd rather over-explain the fit, the firmness and the warmth above than have you find out after the wrapper is off.
